FYI...smart grids
The smart grid is an energy network that can be likened to the internet. Customers will download and upload electricity instead of data. Rather than modems measuring the data flow, smart meters will measure the energy flow. Smart grid is where the information technology infrastructure will meet the electrical infrastructure.
